There’s no place like home and more people are opting for “staycations” by creating personal backyard retreats. If you have a family with school age children, are a “Baby Boomer” with adult kids and grandchildren or are a person who loves their home, a yard with amenities such as a pool, hot tub, outdoor cooking area, firepit, outdoor fireplace, foot paths and gardens is a delightful haven. The best part is that it’s just outside your back door.

When remodeling a bathroom, ventilation is very important. Bathrooms are small spaces susceptible to mold due to humidity caused by using showers and tubs in a confined area. While it helps to have a window in a bathroom, windows don’t provide sufficient ventilation particularly in winter months. Ventilation fans help control this problem and also help remove odors. There are “fan lights” designed expressly for bathrooms that combine both ventilation and lighting. Fan lights are also “EnergyStar” rated.

Do you remember the pink tubs, toilets and sinks from the 1960s? Powder blue 4-inch walls tiles from the 1970s? White laminate cabinets from the 1980s? Sliding door shower enclosures from the 1990s?
