6 Bathrooms for a Romantic Valentine's
4:54

Valentine's Day is a great opportunity to consider the ways you support a connection with your partner at home. What better room than the master bathroom to inject some romantic style into your daily living space? When considering what makes a bathroom feel romantic, we see two design themes that always seem to do the trick. Read on for a look at six of our real Cincinnati remodels that show how romance is done.

Theme #1: Room for Two

While it's often possible in some larger master bathrooms to give both partners a bit of elbow room, we can't think of much that's more romantic than an ample shower that could work for two when wanted. Whether the shower is designed for both users to have separate showerheads, or if there's more sharing involved, a large-format walk-in shower is a romantic luxury, even if you're using it on your own!

We like how the long wall niche in this recent bathroom remodel indicates the possibility of sharing. The footprint of this curbless shower is large enough for two, and includes a bench tucked into the end which increases its versatility. The long niche, which stands out with a geometric tile accent, means that sharing is easier from one end of the shower to the other. The accessibility of this shower and the high-quality touches, including the drain, wall-mounted hand bar near the bench, and hand-held showerhead option, means this one is also just as safe as it is lovely!

A shower room is a fantastic way to ensure that you and your partner have plenty of room. We love the classic look of this master bathroom shower in Indian Hill. It was installed in a curved turret, which gives it a romantic vibe, which is further enhanced by the contrast of the materials. Small-scale white tiles are set off with a rich black stone that creates a sense of drama but also helps define the space. Whether just hanging out on the bench with the steam or getting ready together for the day, this shower is perfect for classic romance.

We love the industrial notes of this his-and-hers shower in Symmes Township which creates a space that feels designed around the couple's combined tastes. The shower is double-sided, giving the couple their own space, niche, and shower heads, and allows them a lot of options. The shower is also voice-activated, meaning the water can be turned on and brought up to temperature before stepping in- a luxurious option! We also like the added style of the decorative tile in the niches, which add a playful accent that keeps this workhorse double shower from being taken too seriously.

Theme #2: Dreamy Design

Even if sharing isn't your thing as a couple, the nature of the two-person master bath makes it a space where you should both feel comfortable and relaxed, which can be romantic all on it's own. That's why we see well-appointed vanity design being a crucial theme in creating a bathroom fit for Valentine's Day. When you and your partner feel well-taken care of at home, you'll feel ready to tackle the day together with ease!

A double vanity is great, but one that can transport you and your partner to a dreamy destination is even better! This traditional bathroom in Loveland uses a calming cream & taupe color scheme with well-considered tiles, countertop and flooring to create an space with a subtle beachy quality. Getting ready for the day offers hints of a couples retreat in the sunny south. Hidden lighting, custom storage solutions, and glamorous accents elevate this master vanity into high-end hotel-style territory.

Romance doesn't always have to be soft and traditional. Sometimes a bit of drama, excitement, and bold overtures are the ticket to winning your partner over! This contemporary master bathroom vanity in East Walnut Hills shows us the moves with a luxe, rich scheme that uses geometric tile and flashy gold accents to draw the couple in. The vanity makes use of the narrow space too by giving just enough room for the couple to use the vanity together without stepping on each other's toes.

Maybe we're a bit type A here, but we think being organized is a pretty appealing trait in a bathroom. Obviously, this pink, gold, and white master bathroom in Bridgetown has Valentine's-level romance to spare, but it's more than just a pretty face. The classic white cabinetry was designed to handle a wide range of organizational accessories and options. The couple can easily keep their items tidy and tucked away, leaving more room to enjoy a beautiful space free of distractions- except each other, of course!
